If you asked me what was currently trending on social media, I’ll be honest: I couldn’t tell you.
In a world that demands we stay “relevant” and “up-to-date,” choosing not to know feels like a radical act of self-care. Traditional marketing relies on the trend cycle to keep us stuck in a loop of consuming, comparing, and chasing after a “better” version of ourselves that is always just one purchase away.
But trends are just another form of external noise. They keep us tethered to a pace that isn’t ours and a version of ourselves that doesn’t exist.
The Cycle of “Too-Muchness”
Trends are designed to be temporary. They create an artificial sense of urgency—telling us that what we have (and who we are) is suddenly outdated. When we follow the pace set by society, we never find the stillness we crave because we are too busy trying to keep up.
For a long time, I tried to run at the pace that society demanded. I tried to follow the formulas, create the variations, and stay relevant in the ways I was told I “should.” But all it did was leave me feeling overwhelmed and deeply disconnected from my own creative frequency. I realized that chasing public momentum was costing me my internal peace.
So, I walked away from the frantic pace.
Here is what I do instead:
1. I Design for the Person I Am (Not the One I “Should” Be)
I’ve stopped purchasing items because they are “in style” or because an algorithm suggested them. Instead, I purchase intentional items that reflect the person I actually am. I invest in quality, timeless pieces that mirror my own personal style and design. If it doesn’t make me feel supported and at ease, it doesn’t belong in my sanctuary—no matter how popular it is.
2. I Unfollow the Noise
To protect my peace, I stay away from the constant scroll. I’ve intentionally unfollowed the noise of the world so I can hear my own intuition again. I do what lights me up and brings me joy, even if it’s “unpopular” or “outdated” by social media standards. My joy isn’t up for public vote.
3. I Allow Myself to Evolve at My Own Pace
One of the most beautiful parts of a Slow Edit is the permission to outgrow old versions of yourself. I only keep what truly matters to me today, and I allow myself to let go of the person I used to be to make space for the person I am still becoming.
Society sets a frantic pace for “growth,” but I prefer to evolve at the pace of nature—slowly, intentionally, and in my own season.
The Choice is Yours
When you stop chasing what’s “new,” you finally have the energy to cherish what’s true. You reclaim your attention, your budget, and your peace. You realize that you don’t need to be “current” to be complete.
The Tiny, Peaceful Piece
Today, I invite you to perform a simple “Digital Edit.”
Unfollow just one account that makes you feel like you need to change, buy, or “keep up.” Notice the immediate drop in the noise. In that newly reclaimed space, give yourself permission to simply exist without needing to be anything different.
With so much love,
Kimberly

Soulful Reflections
I invite you to take a deep breath, sit with these questions today, and listen to your own quiet wisdom:
Your Attention: When you look at your current digital landscape or the media you consume, what is one source of “external noise” that feels heavy, outdated, or misaligned with who you are today?
Your Space: If you stopped decorating or organizing for the approval of others, what is one small corner of your sanctuary you would change simply to support your own comfort and ease?
Your Permission: If you gave yourself permission to not keep up with the latest trends, what would you stop forcing yourself to do, and what would you choose to enjoy instead?
